My last blog was on trick photography with water but this one is going to be a little more interesting and fun to do. This is a little tough to do but in this part of trick photography we will be capturing smoke. I recomend having an ADULT with you.

This as i said is a little tough so you will be needing a seperate flash along with the one on your  DSLR and a few more things listed at the bottom. Now if you have been to parties you must have seen those smoke machines or those smoke throwers those are very good for this type of photography but as many people do not have those you can try incense sticks they too are very good.
you can have multicoloured torches if you want to add effects but its your wish its really not needed. there should be a dark room with a lamp or light falling straight on the incense sticks this lets the smoke be visible to the camera. You need to find the right moment to click and trigger the flash if its a manual one but if you are using torches and lasers for effects you need a tripod and you will need to set a timer on your camera this is going to be a little tough as you will want to flash the light at the right time and the right colour depending on the background but if this is your first time i recommend doing it without effects but a tripod would be a plus point not saying a necessity but a tripod always helps.

before clicking a smoke photograph you would want to place the flash at the right position it should either go on the left or right depending on the wind. e.g. if the wind is carrying the smoke to the right i will place the flash to the left.

needed:
Camera
incense sticks or smoke machines
Tripod [optional]
external flash
torch[optional]
black background
dark room
light for the sticks
